Lake Champlain, VT, USA

Technically, we stayed in Plattsburgh, NY... I can say with certainly that I do not love New York. That being said, Lake Placid and Lake Champlain are beautiful - the towns surrounding them, however, do not strike my fancy. It was a nice weekend away from work though and a nice cruise through Vermont's mountains. I could have stopped there. Vermont seemed fantastic.

Jesse thought the cracking ice sounded like the Loch Ness monster.

Mt. Whiteface on the way to Lake Placid. Absolutely astounding.

Moosey was actually on our way back in Coaticook, QC, Canada.

Moose Point State Park - Searsport, ME, USA

Moose Point State Park is a delightful walk along the ocean. Not too tough, but beautiful. I even had the opportunity to parallel park like a boss. I must have seven thousand photos of the ocean, but I don't feel like they ever get old to me. The ocean will never get old anyway. It's always different. That's Maine's redeeming quality - if you get away from people's houses, it's got some nice scenic views.

Campobello Island, NB, Canada

To start to new year off right, Jesse and I made the 3 hour drive up to the Canadian Border. We made it far enough to be in a different time zone, which is always a little strange to think about. It snowed last night, but the weather was absolutely perfect for exploring - minus the butt-deep snow. I hope this sets the stage for what the rest of my year is going to be like.
