Quoddy Head State Park - Lubec, ME, USA

We have not had nice weather for about a week and a half now. When we left Lincolnville, the sun was just peeping its head from behind the clouds, but it didn’t follow us up the coast. Luckily, the Easternmost point of the United States - Lubec, ME - wasn’t rainy. The park just had a thick layer of fog hanging over it, which made for an eerie walk through the woods. The trails at Quoddy Head reminded me of what I imagine British Columbia to look like - soggy and green. I’m basing this thought on the number of Sci-Fi shows I’ve seen that were filmed there.

The trail was easy, weaving around steep cliffs over some pretty angry looking waters. The view was easier to take in with our eyes than with the camera, so I played with my macro lens today. We found a cool bog too with a sturdy boardwalk built over it! There were pitcher plants that totally made me want to play Pokemon again, and stunted black spruce trees that were barely taller than me.

  1. Great photographs! I love how the spider web turned out. It was a good idea to use black and white for that one.
